Board Updates & Acknowledgements:

Jen Eastman served as Comms Chair, then Secretary, and most recently as Vice President. She has 
decided to step away. We are grateful for all of the help that she provided us over the years and 

we’re sorry to see her go.

The Executive Board nominated another Board Member, Clausen Ely, III, as Vice President.  

-

 

[The Membership votes unanimously to confirm Clausen Ely, III, as Vice President].

Clausen will continue to chair the Public Safety Committee while serving as Vice President.

There is now a vacant At-Large Board Member position. We always encourage new folks to join 
the team.

Justin usually meets with CW Porter’s office monthly; they were unable to meet today. 

 

 

Liquor Board:

We try to only support those establishments that sign the MOUs.

We signed Letters of Support for the Block Party (St. Patrick’s Day); for Federal Hill Main Street 

(events, clean and green, operating); and for a Cinco de Mayo Block Party.  

-

 

We will sign an MOU for [the new Mother’s concept].

Question: Is there a standard SBNA MOU?  

-

 

Yes, we worked with restaurant owners and other community associations and came up with a 

standard MOU from which we don’t deviate.

Question: Is there a list of the businesses that have signed an MOU vs. those that have not signed?

We keep track of those businesses that have signed.

Question: Is there a copy of the standard MOU online?

We will put this online.  

 

Clean & Green:

We will be having a Spring Clean & Green Event - we will publish the date [most likely in April] 
and there *should* be a dumpster day event. Ryan is organizing.  

 

Design & Development:

We’ve received some inquiries about Jen’s Place (directly across the street from SBNA). Clausen 

was at The Garden on Saturday and asked Mr. Lee what was going on. Mr. Lee told Clausen that 
he has 3 prospective tenants (all of them liquor stores) with whom 

he’s talking.

Question: Next to Bandito’s, what’s Sean doing?

It’s not his space. He’s given up the lease of the former 101 space.

Question: Do we know who’s moving into CVS?

FHMS is working on research and incentivizing good businesses to move in. We wrote them a 
letter of support regarding this.  

 

Events:

Andrew introduces himself as one of the owners of Cross St Public House, Delia Foley’s, AJ’s, etc.

He is throwing a St. Patrick’s Day Party on Saturday [March 15] [Details].

SBNA will throw a Membership Drive at the event - Max & Rebecca will talk with people about 
joining SBNA. Get a drink, get a sticker, & join association.

Volunteers needed to help man the SBNA table that day (May 4).

Parking Permit Pickup:

We have an event that allows Area 30 Residents to pick up their RPP permits in-

neighborhood. You’d need to purchase your RPP sticker from PABC “for community 
pickup” at Cross Street Market.

Public Safety (7:13pm):

Working on cameras; trying to get additional places signed up. Hair of the Dog has 

inquired about joining the camera network. We’ve taken the next step for that.

These are cameras that we can have businesses install t/o the neighborhood. This is an 
MDHCD Community Safety Grant. There is $15,000 left in that grant.  

-

 

We encourage folks to participate in the Neighborhood Camera Network. FHNA is 
leading that effort with reps from SBNA, RNA, FHSNA, etc.  

-

 

License Plate Readers were effective in recovering a stolen car recently.

Jonathan talks about crosswalks and traffic calming.

Tara says that she had a meeting w/CM Blanchard about this.

After the meeting, if anyone wants to send 311 Service Request Numbers to Jonathan to 

get City responses, we’d appreciate it.

First Friday Happy Hour:

 Kit Stone  

-

 

Kit Stone pitched the First Friday Happy Hour - the first Friday of the month from 5:00 - 
7:00 at Cross Street Market - just drinks. We lost CVS and it was a gut punch for the 
community. We need to remind ourselves that we are a great community; this brings us 

all together. We’re continuing this and want to spread awareness. 

 

 

BPD

started at 7:00pm]

Crime categories are static or are decreasing. Larcenies are down significantly year over 
year.  

-

 

Crime is down overall in the Southern Police District.  

-

 

DOT / Safety issues with Block Parties - discussed.
